Ghanaian artiste, Shatta Wale says congratulating colleague Sarkodie on his BET Hip Hop Awards win is not “important.”
The latter made history as the first artiste to win the ‘Best International Flow’ award – a new category instituted by the organizers of the awards event.
He beat competition from Falz (Nigeria), Ghetts (United Kingdom), Kalash (France), Little Simz (United Kingdom) Nasty C (South Africa) and Tory Lanez (Canada).
It was expected that ‘Already’ artiste would return the favour and congratulate his former friend like he (Sarkodie) did when Wale collaborated with Beyonce.
Wale lashed out at the rapper for putting on a public persona different from who he is in real life.
“…Errm I don’t see it as important…I don’t dislike him. He is a very good guy that I was really close to some time ago but I think he has a wishy-washy brain. He thinks to be in the industry you have to live a certain kind of life, but that is not my life. I don’t believe in portraying lie-life to somebody,” explained Wale to Paul Adom Otchere on ‘Good Evening Ghana’ show.
“For instance you came to my house and I’m in my shorts, I know your programme is large and people pay attention to it. I could say that the President might watch this programme so let me wear a suit. No, the President knows who Shatta Wale is so I can’t potray a lie-life to anybody. And those are the lives they live in the industry that I feel like no don’t live any lie-life for the next generation to copy and feel that this is the life. There’s a life that we need to tow because you’re not going to be Sarkodie forever.”
“Are you a womaniser?”
“Not a womaniser; I like mingling with women.”
