Ghanaian artiste, Samini has been named as a headline performer at the 2019 GhanaFest concert.
The 2019 Ghana Music Awards ‘Artiste of the Decade’ nominee will perform at the Washington Park 5600 Russel DR, Chicago IL, United States of America. Over 5, 000 patrons are expected to be a part of the show.
This year’s edition is in honour of the ‘Year of Return’ initiative by the government of Ghana.
Organized by the Ghana National Council, the event is held to “celebrate the history and culture of the West African nation, Ghana, to the children & families of the diaspora.”
It also embraces the special bond of unity between Ghana and the United States while educating the community about Ghana’s rich traditions.
The event will be held on on July 27 and July, 28, 2019.
Samini’s ‘Untamed’ album won ‘Album of The Year’ in a poll conducted by ReggaeVille, the biggest gathering of reggae lovers on the internet – making him the first African artiste to win the bragging rights.
The ‘My Own’ act took the top spot ahead of projects by the likes of Stephen Marley, Protoje, Kabaka Pyramid, Mr. Vegas, Agent Sasco, Ziggy Marley and Spice.
‘Untamed’ debuted at number 8 on the Billboard World Music Chart.
Samini won Best African Act at the 2006 MOBO Awards, and Best Performer at the 2009 MTV African Music Awards.
