Political opponents and citizens referring to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as ‘King Promise’ is “funny,” says singer King Promise.

The name was created based on what critics say is the President’s tendency to make promises when he was campaigning to be president, and even after he won the election.

“I don’t know how it came about but it’s funny. I just wake up and I realise people are calling the president ‘King Promise’. I am trying to find out the comparison, what we have in common, it is funny, maybe the head.” stated the ‘Oh Yeah’ crooner to Prince Benjamin on Class Drive on Class 91.3 FM on Monday, May 21, 2018.

The singer also stated that the situation would not have any effect on his brand.

“I laugh about it all the time, it’s a plus when people are calling the president with your name, it is cool, I will accept it like that, I don’t have any problem about it, absolutely nothing.”

NEW VIDEO: KING PROMISE FT. SARKODIE & MUGEEZ – ‘CCTV’

Promise recently released a new song titled ‘CCTV’ featuring Sarkodie and Mugeez. He spoke on the need for the creative arts industry in Ghana to be supported.

“We need a lot of support in the art industry, we need more money, more funding. Build centres like workshops where people can learn how to write music or play any kind of instrument. He should also invest into the art industry to train Ghanaian artistes in order to compete with the high-level with other people.”
