Late veteran actor Asonaba Kweku Darko popularly known as Super OD has been laid to rest in his hometown at Agona Abodom in the Central Region.

The funeral for the late actor was held on Saturday, May 19, 2018, where friends and family gathered to bid farewell to the deceased.

Thousands of mourners trouped in at the at the Agona Abodom Funeral Grounds to pay their last respects to the veteran actor.

Several celebrities, personalities and top government dignitaries were present at his funeral to pay their last respect to him.

The former president, John Dramani Mahama on arrival at the funeral of the renowned comedian received a rapturous welcome from NDC and non-NDC faithfuls at the funeral.

He was accompanied by Central Regional Chairman of the NDC, Allotey Jacobs, former Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, Deputy General Secretary, Kofi Adams and Appiah Stadium, among others.

Born Asonaba Kwaku Darko, OD died on February 13, 2018 at the Agona Swedru Government Hospital in the Central Region few days after he had complained he was not feeling well.

Super OD, who had a blissful acting career spanning from the 1970s to the 90’s, was very popular for his roles in local Ghanaian series, Akan Drama on GTV.

Acting with the Oppong Drama Group which later became known as Osofo Dadzie Group, Super O.D gained nationwide popularity for his impeccable acting and rib cracking jokes.

He died at aged 84.
