American actress Gabrielle Union wore clothing by a Ghanaian Fashion Designer for a “family outing” early this week.

Union wore a sheer ostrich feather blouse and silk textured coat designed by Mimi Plange.

The ‘Being Mary Jane‘ actress posted a photo of herself in the dress on Instagram and tagged Plange. She captioned the photo: “When you see the person that owes you money spending money but you trying to be polite”

Plange has clothed a number of high-profiled people including Former First Lady of United States, Michelle Obama, Viola Davis, Rihanna and Serena Williams.

The ‘family gathering‘ was a dinner for some A-list Hollywood personalities including Kevin Hart, Chris Rock, Usher, Dave Chappelle, and Eddie Murphy.

Guided by the principle she refers to as “The Democratization of Luxury,” Mimi Plange creates clothes that are very much inspired by the modern American luxury sportswear tradition, with an infusion of dark romance and aimed at the new, international and democratically-minded consumer.
Africa remains a limitless font of inspiration for the Ghanaian-born designer, who constantly seeks out the unusual and the lyrical found in African traditions, landscapes and lore, and reinterprets these themes in a refreshingly modern way.
“It’s about establishing a new point of view in luxury by capturing the creativity of ancient African civilizations,” says Plange.
