Last night was a night for repairing old relationships for JAY-Z. Ahead of his 4:44 tour stop in Chicago, Emory Jones snapped Hov hanging out with No I.D. and Jaz-O, his most famous friend-turned-foe.

The story will be familiar to most hip-hop fans of a certain age, but after Jaz-O mentored and collaborated with Jay early on, financial disputes over a potential Roc-A-Fella deal soured the pair’s relationship, leading to numerous diss songs and lyrical darts over the years. For JAY-Z and Jaz-O, last night is further proof that time heals all wounds, though.
During his concert at the United Center, JAY-Z also extended an olive branch to his own mentee, Kanye West. After playing “Can’t Tell Me Nothing,” Hov gave a shout out to Ye, along with fellow Chi-Town natives Terrence Howard, Chance The Rapper and 4:44 producer No I.D.
The Watch The Throne pair have been going through their own rough patch after Kanye called out Jay — and more importantly, his wife, Beyoncé, and child, Blue Ivy — during his infamous rant in Sacramento last November. Kanye later cut his Saint Pablo tour short and was hospitalized for reported mental exhaustion.
As JAY-Z said in his recent New York Times interview, though, “I love Kanye. It’s a complicated relationship with us… we gon’ always be good.” Here’s to hoping we see a picture of Hov and Ye hanging out like old times soon.
