DJ Masta Jay’s ‘New Wave‘ mix tape is finally here. The one hour-14 minutes tape features all of your favourite artistes and the songs you love to dance to.
It is the first of a series of projects which would be released by the Live FM DJ. ‘MastaMind – New Wave is a follow up to a previous mixtape ‘MastaMind Mix Vol.1‘ released by Jay on March 6, 2013.
Songs by Stonebwoy, Wutah, Mr. Eazi, Shatta Wale, Ebony, Kidi, Kuame Eugene, Darko Vibes, Ebony, Joey B, Magnom, B4Bonah, King promise, Davido, Fancy Gadam and many others are featured on the ‘New Wave‘ mix tape.
DJ Masta Jay, like fine wine gets better with time.
With a career spanning 16 years and counting, Jay has managed to stay relevant with his cutting edge skills as a radio and club DJ.
Born Nana Owusu Afari, he started out in the industry working with Krush Groove Music Entertainment in 2000 playing gigs around the country. He picked up basic DJing skills, which helped honed his career.
In 2002, he won a Nescafe DJ competition. His reward included a trip to Johannesburg, South Africa for DJ training and tour.
He met some top-rated DJs in the country, and also played at the Limelite, the then biggest night club in Braamfontein which he describes as a “journey” and “different scope of experience in the game.”
On his return to Ghana, he signed a 2-year deal with Temptation Night Club, playing alongside Big L, French Kiss, DJ Ice and many others. He also worked with WareHouse Night Club for eight months.
He got his breakthrough working with the now defunct Choice 102.3 FM. He stayed with the station for six years DJing for and hosting a number of prime time shows on the station.
The 2012/2013 Red Bull DJ Champ also lectured at the Choice FM Radio and TV School. His knowledge of music cuts across all genres including Hip Hop, R&B, Highlife, Hip Life and DanceHall.
His talents landed him a gig as the label for Lynx Entertainment, which was home to Asem, Eazzy, Zigi and OJ Blaq.
The 2013 Ghana DJ Awards Best Mobile DJ has DJ’ed at the Road to MAMAs Party at Citizen Kofi and other prestigious events.
He joined LIVE FM in April 2015 when the station changed hands from the previous owners to EIB Network.
