Ghanaian populace have developed prime interest in watching Telenovelas in recent times because the series focus on romance, comedy, murder mysteries, the supernatural or even eroticism or all those ingredients.

Showing of Telenovelas in Ghana have been heavily criticized by section of the public and local movie producers who claim the country is gradually losing its cultural identity allowing foreign contents to take over the local movie markets with their culture and also giving those foreign contents a space to broadcast 5 or 6 times a week both in prime time and during the day.

Though the upsurge of these Telenovelas have also been criticised by movie stars complaining of being out of business, other Ghanaian stakeholders in the movie industry have come in terms with the popular adage that “If you can’t beat them, just join them” as Koole Production (Bassy Mohammed) in colaboration with CeeJay Multimedia has started shooting Ghana’s first telenovela series.
