Ghanaian artist, Jojo Abot, headlines the last NYC show of her summer run in the US with a call to all humans from all backgrounds to gather in the celebration and restoration of life, freedom, expression and the POWER of the people united against fear and hatred.
Recently wrapping an exciting year in NYC as a member of the New Museum’s incubator program, NEW INC, Abot moves on to a residency at the acclaimed National Sawdust also in NYC for 2017/2018 to develop her immersive multi sensory performance titled “POWER TO THE GOD WITHIN”.
Following an exciting Southern Africa tour, Jojo Abot spent her summer in the US playing memorable shows with Afropunk, Red Bull Sound Select and Carolina performing arts among others. To wrap up this epic tour, the artist invites you to her last US show for 2017 taking place at Nublu on the 26th of October featuring NYC based dynamic new age soul duo, Oshun.
Abot has toured with the incredible legend, Ms Lauryn Hill in the past year. Playing shows at Radio City Music Hall, Greek theater and others along with Common, Seun Kuti and Stephen Marley.
Having performed at iconic venues such as the Apollo Theater, Times Square on New Year’s eve to a 1 million plus audience, Museum of Modern Art, Kennedy Center and Kings Theater among others, Abot continues to connect with a global audience through her unique AFRO-HYPNO-SONIC aesthetic and incredibly diverse mediums.
