Spoken Word artist Poetra Asantewa joined Antoine Mensah as a special guest on Route919, Live FM‘s Drive Time show yesterday.
Asantewa spoke about the #BlackGirlsGlow (BBG) project and their upcoming ‘Mother Of Heirs‘ concert.
BGG is “a concept that aims to raise the profile of female artists locally, regionally and globally by highlighting and showcasing the brilliant and talented young female artists making waves in the Ghanaian entertainment industry. It is based on the notion that musical collaboration is a uniquely powerful way to connect people across political and cultural barriers.”
The team is made up of six ladies – Poetra Asantewa, Dzyadzorm, Adomaa, Cina Soul, Fu and Ria Boss. They recently released ‘Mother of Heirs,’ a road trip through femininity and creation, a declaration of independence in the Ghanaian artistic scene.
The 12-track project includes melody, rap, rhythm, poetry and harmony working together and drawing influence from Hip Hop, Jazz, Soul, Blues, Spoken Word and R&B, to create a fusion of genres in perfect balance.
