yoyo tinz, a Ghanaian organization dedicated to archiving, documenting and promoting hip hop in Ghana has launched its official website.

The launch took place at the Brazil House, JamesTown over the weekend and was attended by art enthusiasts, artists and hip hop lovers. A showcase of the main elements of the hip hop culture (graffiti, beatboxing, dance, and rap) was featured at the event.

Co-founders Selorm Jay and Essenam Deblos took turns to explain to the audience gathered what inspired starting the organization and what they’ve done so far leading to the official launch of the hip-hop portal.

“It is not only about having a website; it’s about reaching a milestone. We’ve been working underground for 3 years, and now we’re really going live. The varied nature of Ghanaian hip hop makes it so rich, and we should be proud of that and share it widely.” Says Deblos.

Jay shared with the audience details and sections of the website after its official unveiling. www.yoyotinz.com is a space for live updates on events associated with Ghanaian hip hop and yoyo tinz.

Over the past three years, yoyo tinz has collaborated with other art and cultural organisations including AccraDotAlt, Alliance Francaise d’ Accra and Ghana Graffiti to create a visible platform for hip-hop culture in Ghana. ‘Gintar Tinz’, ‘Palabre’, ‘Mash Up’ and ‘Meet The Artiste’ are some innovations by YoyoTinz.

The event witnessed performances by two lyrically gifted acts, Worlasi and Akan who performed ‘Helebaba’ live for the first time. Bizzy Mof also treated the audience to a beat boxing set.

A collaboration between yoyo tinz and FOKN Bois to release the latter’s upcoming album ‘FOKN Ode to Ghana’ on June 30 was announced.
