Ace Ghanaian highlife artiste and NDC party anthem composer Jewel Ackah, has publicly made it known that he has not regretted doing the NDC anthem ‘Arise Arise’ and even joining the party ever since ex President Rawlings called on him since 1997.
Speaking in an interview with Jewel on the AM Pluzz morning show on Pluzz 89.9 FM with Sammy Flex, the artiste said that, the then president called on him one morning and asked for his service.
“I met the President because I knew him way back from Takoradi, then I agreed to do the song which I didn’t charge because I was afraid, so I only told him I need a studio. They gave me the lyrics which I did some changes to and did the entire composition and since then I became part of the National Democratic Congress and I later did other party songs,” he said.
According to FlexGh.com, Jewel also stated that, after the song he thought the party would give him some money but that didn’t happen and from there he resolved that NDC does not give money; you have to work for it.
“It took almost about two terms and nothing came so after President John Mahama came, things were better. I was given a job to do and a whole lot of things. Later, I became committed, everywhere they went, they would call me and people presumed that I was working for the party,” he said.
